Announcing the All New Alta Editions Online Cookbook Service

We’re excited to announce the official launch of the Alta Editions Online Cookbook Service today. This is an important milestone for us in our mission to connect home cooks with the world’s great cookbooks in a format that’s convenient and easy to use.
Ever since starting Alta Editions four years ago, we’ve been focused on publishing beautiful, highly functional cookbooks online. We’re proud of the books we published, but always believed that our unique online publishing platform was destined for bigger things. Today we’re thrilled to share news about the expansion of our service, our new publishing partners and our plans for the future.
“Digital media has transformed the act of cooking. Today’s cooks head to the internet when time comes to plan and prepare meals. We aim to bring classic and beloved cookbooks back into the kitchens and daily lives of home cooks.” — Chris McBride, CEO and Founder
We’re fortunate to be have partnered with forward-thinking publishers like Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and Agate Publishing for our launch. They are working with us to bring an exceptional selection of cookbooks online, including modern classics written by Terrance Brennan and Andrew Friedman, Sara Jenkins and Mindy Fox, Roberto Santibañez and J.J. Goode, and Anupy Singla and many other important authors.
In preparation for our launch we have made a number of important enhancements to the Alta Editions service, including:
- Book Design: We’ve worked carefully to preserve the layout of each cookbook so that the the design and photography look as good as they do in print.
- Search: Unlike with traditional ebooks, you can search across our entire collection of books. We store books as structured data so we’re able to slice and dice (no pun intended) that data to help make finding great recipes quick and easy.
- Sharing: We believe sharing recipes with friends, family and followers should be simple and easy, so you’ll find the option to share recipe and page links via email and on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest on every book page.
- Curation: Our expert curators love to cook just as much as you do. They read every book before it goes live on the service to pick out the best and most interesting recipes and cooking tips to help provide inspiration and save time in the kitchen.
Of course, we’re only at the beginning of our journey to bring the world’s great cookbooks online. We have big plans for Alta Editions and the future of digital cookbooks. Here what’s next:
- Cookbook of the Week: Explore new cuisines and techniques each week with the release of our curated cookbook of the week.
- Recommendations: As our library grows, so does the body of knowledge and recipes available to our members. We know that time saved searching for interesting and inspiring recipes is more time you can spend in the kitchen and around the table so we’re working hard to make discovering content you’ll love as painless as possible.
- Personalization: We want Alta Editions to feel like it was made just for you. Making the service more personal and streamlined will mean better, more interesting meals for everyone.
If you love cooking and cookbooks we think you’ll love what you find on Alta Editions. We hope you’ll join us on our journey and help forge the path for cookbooks in the digital age.
